Osteopathy for Children
Parents instinctively know if a child is not fully themselves. While older children can tell us that they are feeling unwell, small children can only give us clues through behaviour, sleep patterns and general health. I see a wide range of physical and behavioural presentations in children and health and sports related problems in older children/teenagers.
While children don't seem to get as many aches and pains as adults, when they do, it is as well to get them checked out as they are more unusual.
Osteopathy for children looks at the whole child in terms of health and development. I aim to help you understand and support your child and also help them access better health through gentle osteopathic treatment.
Please don't worry about how to keep your young child “still” throughout a treatment. Young children usually enjoy playing with toys or reading books, and I can treat while they are sat on a parent’s knee. I have a selection of toys and books in the clinic, but you're welcome to bring your own. Older children are usually happy to lie down for a treatment but may want a parent close by. All children under 16yrs need to be accompanied by an adult.
If you are not sure if osteopathy is appropriate for your child, please feel welcome to book in for a free 15 minute exploratory call and we can discuss your questions.
Please note that children may sometimes be a little unsettled for up to 24 hours after treatment.
Treatment plans vary according to your child’s presentation; we can discuss this and agree a plan together.
